Handwriter of the Day - Camilla

Well done Camilla on your beautiful handwriting today

Celery

Today is tasty Tuesday and we are eating celery.
When you pull some stuff off you might pull off some string too.  Habib thought it was shaped like a broken boat. The celery was green and white. Inside the celery you can feel a dent. The celery is wet inside. It is smooth and hard and you feel lines.
The celery tasted yum, sour, sweet, good, like broccoli, like grass and a little bit yucky.
When we took a bite it was crunchy and it smelled yum.

Shirley Superstar Handwriter of the Day - Habib

Habib's handwriting has improved so much this year and today his handwriting was just stunning.  Well done Habib.  You are doing great.

Explanation/writer of the day - Komal

Komal wrote a fantastic explanation about what the body needs to work.  Her explanation reads..

Our body works with heaps of water and heaps and heaps of variety which means heaps and heaps of different food.  The body needs oxygen if you can not breath you could not stay alive.  We need bones if we do not have bones your bones will be loose.

Harold's Picnic

We have spent two sessions in the life education bus.  Here are some pictures of our learning.

Explanation/writer of the day.

Today Saiida's group wrote about how the body works. I chose Saiida as the writer of the day because she is working really hard at using full stops in the correct places and I think you'll agree she did very well today.  Well done Saiida

Saiida's explanation says...
The body needs lots of brain juice.  It also needs to run a lot. It also needs lots of energy.  Variety means eating lots of different food.  The body needs to drink lots of water and exercise

Story of the Day - Dapre

Today Dapre's group were asked to write about how they thought a car worked.  This is Dapre's brilliant work.

"An engine, wheels and exhaust pipe is how a car works.  You pull the gears.  You definitely need a garage.  Where is the petrol station?"

I love how Dapre is using his sounds to write hard words.  Well done Dapre!

Shirley Superstar Handwriter of the Day - Aryan

Congratulations Aryan on being the handwriter of the day! I love the size of your letters

Cucumber

Today we tasted cucumber.  It was green with white pips and inside looked like a spiderweb.  Miss Ferguson cut it into slices and they looked like circles.  The cucumber felt smooth, hard, squishy and soft in the middle.  Benjamin thought the cucumber smelled like chicken. Mila thought it smelled like cut grass.  Kian thought it smelled like broccoli and Camilla thought it smelled good.  When we ate it, it crunched.  We thought it tasted sweet, juicy, good and yum.

Maths measurement

In mathematics the next two weeks we are studying measurement.

We Are Learning To (WALT)
Discuss measurements by using the appropriate vocabulary.

Here are some children making different sized worms.

Kruze has already made his short worm and is now rolling out his long worm...

Here is a  long worm and a short skinny worm.

Kian is rolling out a very long worm

Next we made buildings out of blocks and pretended to drive cars around them.
We used words like
furthest
nearest
to describe how close the cars were to the building.

Shirley Superstar Handwriter of the Day

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Persimmon

Today is Tasty Tuesday.
The food that we ate was a persimmon.
The colour was orange on the inside and outside.
The persimmon smelt yum like a flower.
It felt squishy, soft, slippery and light.
The persimmon was shaped like an apple.
IT tasted like an apple and it was delicious and good.
It was also very juicy.
The leaves were attached to the tree and when you pull it off the middle looks like a flower.
When we bit it, it clicked.
